2018 Lawson
Our winemaker Morgan had been asking us why we never named a wine after ourselves. “Because.” Was always our answer. I guess it never really occurred to us or it felt weird or something like that. Anyway, with the 2016 vintage Morgan surprised us and announced he had made a new wine and he wanted to name it Lawson. We tasted it for the first time at a dinner we were at with our barrel reps in Napa back in January 2019 and at the time I remember thinking it might be the best wine he’s ever made. And I was very proud it was named Lawson. The first vintage flew off the shelf, so here is to our second vintage. You’d better get it while you can. A classic Bordeaux blend that is silky and rich - 60% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10 Cab franc, 5 Petit Verdot. 100% Discovery vineyard. 75% new French oak for about 20 months. My mouth waters.
